The Driller keeps drills in proper operational condition. Working from a set of plans or blueprints the driller would be responsible for the proper pattern layout and insures that the correct hole size is being drilled. This position is provided a company truck.
Responsibilities include:
- Walk around or pre-trip inspection; check hoses, cables, chains, tracks and the general
- condition of the machine.
- Responsible for checking all drill fluid levels including; engine oil, hydraulic oil, rock oil, compressor oil, anti-freeze and fuel. Ensure the proper warm-up procedures are being executed (per Trinity Drilling & Blasting guidelines).
- Periodically checks with Blaster in Charge or Blasting Supervisor to verify site conditions and drilling plan.
- Check area to be drilled for any hazards to include; overhead electrical wires, underground utilities and unsafe ground conditions, such as slopes or icy areas.
- Holes should be drilled to the proper depths, including subdrill.
- Communicate with the blaster-in-charge the conditions of the drilling, such as condition of rock, wet holes, voids, mud seams, the pattern and drill bit size.
- Ensure tracks are clean and maintenance issues have been reported before securing the drill and leaving the jobsite.
- Exercise extreme caution and observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- MSHA certified or obtains this certification in the first 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to read, write and follow instructions, manuals, technical papers and a tape measure.
- Must have technical knowledge of work site blueprints.
