Full Job Description
The City of Altoona is currently hiring for the position of Building Inspector in our Codes and Inspections Department. As a Building Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations for residential and commercial construction and alterations within the City. You will inspect buildings at various stages of construction, review building plans and specifications, and enforce codes to promote safe construction practices. In addition, you will work closely with contractors, architects, and property owners to address any issues or concerns.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A thorough understanding of building codes and regulations
- Knowledge of construction practices, materials, and methods
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications
- Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code Certification for Building Inspector (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Relevant work experience in building inspection or construction industry
