What We’re Looking For: 

 

This position is responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining a wide range of critical financial reports and analysis for Board, public and management use. The Senior Financial Analyst is integral to the financial planning process which requires the Analyst to respond quickly to requests and to meet very tight deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy. The person in this position also plays a key role in developing utility funding models which are the basis for revenue negotiations with Energy Trust’s funding utilities. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Innovation and Development, Energy Programs and other groups and individuals regarding the pursuit and administration of grants and other new revenue streams, including considerations around compliance with private, local, state, and federal fund requirements, billing and collections, and financial grant reporting. The Senior Financial Analyst must apply sound reasoning, backed by strong research capabilities and a technical foundation in generally accepted accounting principles.  

 

This individual reports to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Work effectively with all levels of the organization to become an internal expert on our organization’s cost, revenue, and operational drivers. 
  • Perform enterprise-wide analysis of financial results, trends, reporting performance indicators. 
  • Perform financial planning and budget development including relating to Energy Trust staffing levels. Perform ongoing forecasting, variance analysis, and support budget managers as they manage against financial targets.  
  • Create, maintain, and document complex models, revenue requirement analyses, cost analysis, allocation methods, budget to actual variance analysis, reports, and templates, leveraging core financial systems. Utilize Energy Trust’s enterprise financial planning and budgeting system to the greatest extent possible. 
  •  Serve as the primary point of contact with grant managers for the financial administration of grants, including accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial planning. Collaborate with colleagues across other Finance functions as required. 
  • Create and communicate / present periodic financial reporting and budget presentations. 
  • Continuously monitor effectiveness of internal controls in the course of fulfilling job duties.  
  • Work closely with peers in the Finance team to support ongoing operations, improve systems and processes, share knowledge and provide cross coverage. 
  • Serve as a resource to other Energy Trust staff by participating in cross functional teams. 
  • Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

What You’ll Need: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting – or equivalent educational experience preferred. 
  • Professional certification such as a CPA, CMA, or similar certification, or an advanced degree in finance or accounting is preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a combination of budgeting, financial planning & analysis, cost accounting, grant accounting and preparing or auditing GAAP-compliant financial statements. 
  • Advanced skills and experience using software tools for financial analysis and reporting, grant accounting and budgeting, including ERP level and MS Office apps. 
  • Ability to derive and communicate information and knowledge from financial data. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in a remote and in person setting. 
  • Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
