GENERAL DESCRIPTION & PRIMARY ROLE
Resource One serves a broad spectrum of clients who use a wide variety of network tools. Network specialists cannot simply apply a standard set of protocols to client issues but must use critical thinking and logic to address client needs and solve client problems.


The primary purpose of this position is to implement, troubleshoot and resolve complex network systems onsite and remotely such as servers, switches, routers etc. Systems Administrators must be adaptable and think broadly beyond the immediate question to identify underlying issues, and suggest solutions. These technicians may be assigned directly to client issues or may take over items identified for escalation by Support Specialists. System Administrators are the primary technical resource for internal accountability as well as client relations. Systems Administrators work with clients and Resource One’s Account Management team to accurately scope projects based on client’s current and projected business needs. Systems Administrators must honor and adhere to ROI’s core values.

RESPONSIBILITIES BY FUNCTION

Essential Functions:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance of client infrastructure
- Manage data security systems, including evaluating software options, upgrading systems, and monitoring and addressing threats and breaches
- Assist with server management by responding to server issues that may require application or database shutdown/startup, server reboot, or restarting of server services
- Identify and correct faults and provide resolution of complex problem tickets escalated from Support Specialists/Help Desk
- Troubleshoot PC hardware and software problems and identify, categorize, and resolve PC hardware and software application problems
- Isolate performance issues to determine cause of hardware malfunctions, such as hard drive, modem, printer, cables and related equipment
- Test and deploy new software and procedures, implementation, conversion and upgrade activities
- Deploy and troubleshoot IP-based LANs/WANs and IP-based routing and bridging solutions
- Perform initial program load and user-specific setup for standard desktop applications
- Contact software and hardware vendors to research problem and determine recommended solutions
- Collaborate with team members to resolve more complex problems and escalate difficult issues as necessary
- Perform data restoration

- Log and track calls using ticketing system and maintain historical records and related problem documentation

- Complete all paperwork and reports accurately and on time. This would include entering time at the end of each client engagement and submitting time sheets at the end of each work week.

Client and internal requests for help that are received after hours should receive a response as early as possible the next business day. If a client or employee indicates the matter is urgent, the Systems Administrator may need to address the problem after hours

Other duties:
- Participate in creation and maintenance of IT standards and procedures
- Help maintain Resource One’s library of associated materials for all equipment,processes, and procedures
- Contribute to development and administration of network backup and recovery plan to maintain LAN/WAN network systems operation
- Participate in After-Hours call group for client emergencies
- Fulfill other roles and duties, as assigned
- Continual learning and study, especially as it relates to the company product and service offerings and the computer/networking industry

Requirements

- Requires ability to manage time and responsibilities to process time-sensitive tasks and situations

- Requires ability to protect confidential information

- Requires proactive, innovative and strategic thinking skills

- Requires ability to work self-directed, with little to no supervision

- Requires reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and valid Oregon driver’s license (for travel and transporting equipment to and from client sites)

- Requires ability to communicate with internal staff, vendors, and clients with tact and professionalism

- Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and with help, when moving or deploying computer/networking equipment or office furniture in preparation for equipment moves

- Requires ability to lift up to 25 pounds several times per week when moving or deploying computer/networking equipment

- Requires ability to stand and/or sit at a desk for full shift

- Requires ability to bend, flex, grip, reach, lift, pull, and/or extend neck, most often during the deployment of hardware

- Requires the ability to work after-hours as directed from time-to-time.

EDUCATION / TRAINING

  • Requires high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the IT industry
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge/experience
  • CompTIA Network + Certification
  • CompTIA Server + Certification
  • MCSA Certification
  • Strong hardware knowledge
