Our Location
Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Sr. Accounting Clerk would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.
What We’re Looking For:
This position is responsible for a wide range of general accounting activities, both routine and of a special project nature, ensuring financial compliance and playing an important role in our company’s financial operations ensuring accuracy in accounting and compliance with the law. The incumbent will have a strong, confident, and working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, possess strong problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, quick to learn, work independently as well as work closely with others within the Finance team – and cross-collaboratively within the organization. The primary duties of this position are the timely and accurate processing of all vendor, customer and incentive invoices according to company policies and contract terms through the full cycle of vendor file maintenance, invoice approval routing and exception management. The Sr. Accounting Clerk must be flexible with changing priorities and be able to communicate clearly with a broad range of vendors, customers and internal managers and organize large volumes of data and documentation.
This individual reports to the Accounts Payable & Receivable Supervisor.
This position will work remotely but is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings.
What You’ll Do:
- Process accounts payable invoices matching invoices to contracts and purchase orders. Ensure timely payment of Energy Trust obligations, working with program directors and managers to ensure accurate account coding, compliance with Energy Trust policies and tax regulations involving payments, and satisfied vendors, participants, and coworkers.
- Process accounts receivable invoices. Ensuring timely submission of invoices and working with the Senior Financial Analyst to ensure grant compliance, approvals, and accurate coding.
- Process all W9 forms and assist in the IRS TIN check process, following up with and guiding PMC staff and employees on protocols and requesting corrections where needed, and assist in retention protocols for the W9s.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed.
- Understand the purpose and methodology behind the accounting ensuring inaccuracies can be identified and corrected promptly.
- Continuously monitor effectiveness of internal controls in the course of fulfilling job duties.
- Document workflows and maintain up to date desk-level procedures as part of the internal control system.
- Collaborate with peers in the Finance department to achieve team objectives, provide backup and seamless execution of related tasks.
- Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements
What You’ll Need:
· Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration preferred, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
· Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
· Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing is required.
· Experience in financial month-end and year-end closing is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of the following software applications or their equivalents: Microsoft Office including Teams and SharePoint, Adobe, and DocuSign.
· Experience with Great Plains preferred.
· Experience writing and documenting business processes.
· Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· Must be a proficient, innovative, multi-talented and multi-tasking accounting professional who is able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
· Must provide strong customer service experience oriented towards providing support to a diverse workforce or customer base.
· Must be able to perform all normal office job functions in a safe and effective manner.
