This is a full-time position ideally located in the US Pacific Time Zone: in particular Portland, OR. This person should be willing to accommodate global hours across multiple time zones periodically.

The Opportunity
Our Global Strategy and Operations team is looking for an Internal Communications Manager to support the day-to-day functions of internal processes and information across the North American and Asia Pacific business Units and the wider company at SecondMuse. The Internal Communications Manager will develop and implement effective communication strategies that enhance internal engagement, align employees with company goals, and promote a positive organizational culture. They will also support the effective communication of the company strategy, offerings, and core company differentiators, such as building Relational Wealth.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and execute internal communication strategy: This involves creating a comprehensive plan that addresses the communication needs of the organization. The strategy should support the company's objectives, enhance its culture, and engage employees. It includes deciding on the key messages, communication channels, frequency, and methods of feedback.
- Manage internal communication channels: Effective management of diverse communication channels (e.g., Slack, emails, intranet, MuseNews, QBUs & town hall meetings) ensures that information is consistently and effectively distributed throughout the organization. The manager also explores and integrates new tools and technologies to enhance communication
- Create and manage content - with a focus on organizational learning: Developing clear, concise, and engaging content tailored to various internal audiences. This includes writing articles, creating videos, or developing presentations that communicate key messages, updates, and organizational changes. Ensuring that the content is relevant and reflects the company’s tone and values is crucial. This also includes monitoring and reporting key metrics/data to ensure effective engagement.
- Employee engagement and feedback: Implementing initiatives that drive employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture. The Internal Communications Manager seeks and analyzes feedback from employees to gauge the effectiveness of communication strategies and to identify areas for improvement. They also play a key role in crisis communication, ensuring employees are informed and supported throughout.
- Understand employees’ needs: Serving as a bridge between the company's leadership and its employees, ensuring that important messages from the Executive Team are communicated clearly and that employee voices are heard and considered by the management. This includes organizing and facilitating meetings, Q&A sessions, and feedback loops.
- Support the development of strategic materials: Work on the communication of the company's strategy, our offerings in the market and the articulation of our underlying practice. In particular, support the development of Thought Leadership in our organization’s theory of change.
Work Environment
- This role is virtual but you are hired in your present location for employment law purposes. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but your schedule must overlap with core work hours, and must be able to take and hold meetings across time zones. You should expect to work evening and morning hours 2+ times a week. Some travel might be required.
- You will report to: Stuart Gill, Global Head of Strategy & Operations (based in Melbourne, Australia)
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be a skilled storyteller and have the ability to strategically plan and execute internal communication initiatives.
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills: Ability to create clear, engaging, and effective communication materials tailored to different audiences.
- Strategic thinking: Capable of developing and implementing an internal communications strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
- Project management skills: Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks.
- Analytical skills: Ability to analyze data and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience with communication tools: Demonstrable experience in managing and using various communication platforms such as intranets, and email marketing software such as Mailchimp or HubSpot.
- Proficiency in graphic design: particularly with tools like Canva, to enhance the visual appeal and effectiveness of campaigns
- Interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise between the management and employees, and to foster an environment of open communication.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems in a collaborative, results-driven environment
- Flexibility to adapt within a complex environment of stakeholders
Requirements
Experience comes in many different forms. At SecondMuse we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive community of individuals with a wide range of backgrounds. As guidance, we prefer applicants to have at least 6 years of experience in a startup environment, design, innovation, or management consulting firm. At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
