This role demands a deep understanding of the music industry, particularly within the collector and enthusiast segments, coupled with a proven track record of building and scaling highly engaging digital experiences. You will be expected to not only define "what" needs to be built, but also contribute significantly to the "why," influencing the overall product strategy. Compensation
Starting Base Salary Range - $115,000 - $130,000

Who We’re Looking For
The Senior Product Owner collaborates with a cross-functional team to build and deliver a compelling product roadmap that improves the experience of Discogs users and drives business value to achieve company goals. The Senior Product Owner works proactively with internal and external stakeholders, leadership, and other product owners to understand relevant priorities and weave broader business needs into the roadmap for their team.

- Strategic Product Vision & Leadership: Define and champion a compelling product vision for the assigned squad, directly contributing to Discogs' overarching strategic objectives and influencing broader organizational goals. This includes proactively identifying and addressing market opportunities.
- Customer-Centric Product Strategy: Develop a deep understanding of user needs and pain points through a multi-faceted approach encompassing market research, data analytics, competitive analysis, and direct engagement with the Discogs community, translating these insights into actionable product strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution Excellence: Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, design, QA) in translating user needs into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of features and enhancements through iterative development cycles aligned with the product vision. This includes proactively managing dependencies and mitigating risks.
- Strategic Roadmap Development & Prioritization: Define and manage a dynamic product roadmap, prioritizing initiatives based on a holistic assessment of user impact, business value, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment. This includes proactively communicating roadmap updates and rationale to stakeholders.
- Data-Driven Performance Analysis & Optimization: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to rigorously track product performance, identifying areas for optimization and leveraging qualitative and quantitative insights to inform product strategy and drive continuous improvement.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence: Maintain expert-level awareness of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape within the product area, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation, differentiation, and sustainable competitive advantage for Discogs.
Department/Team Specific Requirements:
- Selling Squad
- Lead the ideation, development, and enhancement of key seller-facing features and functionalities, spanning onboarding, inventory management, product listing, promotions, and account management.
- Demonstrate expertise in e-commerce and online marketplace dynamics, with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs of individual, small business, and enterprise sellers worldwide.
- Successfully balance the needs of a wide range of sellers, from casual hobbyists to high-volume businesses, creating a product roadmap that prioritizes both ease of use and robust functionality.
- Integrate compliance requirements into the product roadmap, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
- Apply knowledge of pricing strategies to empower sellers in optimizing pricing and driving sales of their inventory.
Requirements
What You’ll Contribute
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Extensive understanding of user research methodologies and data analysis to inform product decisions.
- Proven ability to prioritize complex features/functional platforms and manage product roadmaps and sequential rollouts across user segments and geographies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with and inspire cross-functional teams and foster alignment without reporting responsibility.
- Technical knowledge of relevant technologies like APIs, databases, and data/security protocols.
- Ability to analyze data and prioritize features based on user impact, business value, and technical feasibility.
- Define, revise, and report out to leadership on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and track progress, using data to inform product strategy and tactical decision-making.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams like sales, marketing, legal, and customer support to communicate product strategy and address stakeholder concerns.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience
- 6+ years work experience in a product role
- Project management experience and/or certification
- Ability to effectively present and communicate information to stakeholders and senior management
- Experience using Product Development tools (Atlassian suite preferred--Jira, Figma, Confluence)
- Ability to analyze data from various sources such as analytics tools, reports, and surveys
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture and microservices; APIs; automated testing; continuous deployment
- Thorough understanding of agile principles and iterative processes to release and improve upon feature and product launches
Preferred Experience
- Professional certification - CSPO, Project Management, software development methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Lean, etc.)
- Experience working in online communities and/or ecommerce environments.
- Experience utilizing Discogs platform as a user
- Experience with large scale, high traffic websites that operate on a global scale.
