The Quality Manager plays a pivotal role in Lazarus Naturals’ mission to provide our customers with the highest quality CBD products available. This position will report directly to the Director of Engineering & Quality and is responsible for assisting with the implementation and management of all quality initiatives at multiple facilities. This candidate will collaborate with team-members throughout the organization to ensure regulatory compliance, product safety, and implementation of best-practices.



Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure absolute food safety and world-class quality are met across our facilities and multiple diverse product lines including reliable adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Direct all workflow of department, long term objectives and coordinate  with Supervisor to ensure daily tasks are being completed by department staff 
  • Oversee day to day cross-departmental operations between Quality and Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Facilities and Maintenance.
  • Responsible for the creation and management of process documents including Master Manufacturing Records, SOPs, SSOPs, eSOPs, and CAPAs. 
  • Ensure standards for all facility and product certifications are being met or exceeded by assisting in the development, implementation, and enforcement of processes and procedures. Manage all audits and certifications holistically from start to finish; interfacing with auditors, conducting the audits, and managing internal standards. 
  • Assist in the handling of customer inquiries and/or complaint events; acts as a member of the response team for SAE and mock recalls.  
  • Manage all recalls and compliance investigations.
  • Coordinate major department initiatives, including NPI organization, supplier qualification audits/activities, and environmental monitoring program deployment.
  • Assist in the development of quality metrics, interpretation and application of data to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Oversee ongoing development and implementation of supplier qualification and audit processes
  • Strategically sets Quality compliance objectives and ensures KPIs are reliably met or exceeded.
  • Ensure sanitation and environmental monitoring activities are acceptable by implementing validation and verification activities to confirm the effectiveness of sanitation activities and responding appropriately when out-of-spec events occur.
  • Support the Quality Lab by defining sampling plans, stability studies, customer-facing finished product test results, raw material and finished good limits, and protocols for data management.
  • Develop and execute compliance and documentation requirements across R&D, Testing, Supply Chain, Production, Packaging for new product types and formats, from product and process development through launch and product lifespan. 
  • Design, conduct, and coordinate stability studies to assess product shelf life and safety.
  • Conduct product label reviews for compliance and assists in the maintenance of label revisions.

Requirements:

  • HACCP, PCQI, SQF Certified
  • Bachelors or post-graduate degree in Food Science or related field
  • 3-5 years experience with Quality in a food, dietary supplement, or similar manufacturing environment
  • 1-3 years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Developed experience with FDA regulatory requirements (21 CFR 111, 117, 211, 507)
  • Demonstrable understanding of GMP, FSMA, SQF, and TQM principles
  • Intermediate understanding of microbiological testing and limited chemistry testing
  • Knowledge of various pathogens and microbes associated with food production
  • Strong decision making and communication skills
  • Must be flexible with scheduling in support of business needs
  • Visit suppliers as part of the supplier audit/qualification process as necessary.
