Part-Time Cook - Schilling Cider House Portland

We are looking to add a part-time cook and cross-trained cider-tender to our growing team at the Portland Cider House! This position will start working in the kitchen, and once established, will be cross-trained for front of house. Our menu is 100% gluten-free, and we take maintaining a celiac-safe space seriously for our guests who require a gluten-free diet. The right candidate is passionate about finding exciting and tasty gluten-free fare, has a commitment to food safety and cleanliness, and has strong communication skills, as they will be working in harmony with the front of house staff. They should also be excited to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive attitude, be able to multitask, and eager to learn about Cider!

Suggested Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and either Wednesday or Thursday. Expected Hours: 20-28 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside and communicate strongly with front of the house staff
• Ensure proper cleanliness, food safety, and upkeep of the kitchen area and equipment
• Execution of menu items in a timely manner with proper presentation.
• Able to help with prep
• Flexibility to work peak hours of the business
• Eager to help create specials that keep guests coming back for more
• Interest or ability to work in front of the house and be cross-trained as a cider-tender

Experience

• Previous kitchen experience, including prep, fryer, and grill equipment is ideal, but willing to train the right candidate!
• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.
• Highly organized and committed to learning.

Requirements

• Must be 21+ years of age

• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and willing to get most recent booster

• Current and up-to-date Oregon Food handlers permit and willing to acquire an OLCC permit

• Lead by example and taking initiative; be outgoing and approachable

• Be self-driven and self-motivated

• Work independently and as part of the team

• Be an energetic, organized, and motivated problem solver

• Ask for help when needed

Benefits

Starting pay is $17.50 per hour with a generous and equal tip share ($15/hr average)
