In over 95% of cases, disease progression can be slowed or stopped, preserving vision and extending healthspan. In addition to promoting adherence, we help patients overcome barriers to care by assisting with things like financial assistance programs, prescriptions and refills, insurance issues, transportation to visits, understanding their disease and care plan, and coordinating care with other providers.

Position Overview

The Training Specialist at Lumata Health plays a pivotal role in developing and empowering Care Coaches to deliver exceptional patient care. This position focuses on designing and implementing training programs that equip Care Coaches with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles. The Training Specialist will manage comprehensive onboarding, targeted coaching, and continuous support to ensure Care Coaches are prepared to meet their position's demands and contribute to Lumata’s mission of preventing blindness. This role also includes monitoring Care Coaches' quality and productivity, providing ongoing feedback, and maintaining high standards across the Clinical Operations department by fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Job Type: Full-time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $24-$28/hr.

Schedule: Monday to Friday; Work schedules may vary based on company needs, with the earliest shift starting at 8:00 am EST and the latest ending at 6:30 pm EST.

Essential Functions

Training Program Development & Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date training content aligned with Lumata’s standards and mission.
  • Identify and address training needs within the Clinical Operations department.
  • Resolve training-related issues and adapt programs as necessary.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with leadership, management, and team members.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance and tailor training programs.
  • Ensure open and effective communication channels with new hires.

Professionalism and Adherence to Core Values

  •   Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions according to Lumata’s standards.
  •   Uphold and model Lumata Core Values in daily tasks and interactions.
  •   Foster a positive work environment that aligns with Lumata’s mission and values.

Quality and Productivity Evaluation

  • Communicate quality and productivity expectations to new hires.
  • Evaluate new hire performance within their first 30 days and provide necessary feedback and adjustments.
  • Identify those who do not meet expectations and provide ongoing training and support as needed.
  • Track and report on new hire performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Onboarding and Training

  • Conduct orientation and arrange training schedules.
  • Set up shadowing opportunities with seasoned team members.
  • Ensure completion of all required training and skills check-offs before transitioning new hires to team pods.
  • Develop and implement individualized training plans based on new hire needs and progress.

Coaching & Ongoing Support

  • Provide 1:1 coaching and answer queries from team members.
  • Ensure a smooth transition for new hires into Lumata and remote work environments.
  • Maintain accurate records of coaching sessions and new hire folders.
  • Address performance issues promptly and provide actionable feedback to support improvement.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support Lumata Health’s goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Healthcare licensure or certification (Ophthalmology experience preferred: COA, COT, COMT).
  • 1–3 years Preferred experience in care management, case management, or as a trainer/super-user.
  • Proficiency in working with multiple software platforms.
  • Experience with CRM or omni-channel service platforms preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and related compliance/billing requirements.
  • Strong data analysis, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Work Environment:

Lumata is pleased to provide a remote working environment for their team members.  In order to perform the essential functions of this job, remote connectivity is essential.  You will need a dedicated remote workspace with either a cable or fiber optic internet connection offering a minimum of 50 Mbps of download speed and 10 Mbps of upload speed of dedicated internet bandwidth for each person asking your network.  


Your workspace should be private and offer a low noise level conducive with managing frequent professional conversations and virtual meetings.  It is also critical that your workspace be HIPAA compliant.  For example, you will want to ensure access to  your company-issued PC is restricted, as you may be handling confidential patient data at times. You are typically expected to have your camera on during virtual external and internal meetings, therefore, your surroundings should be optimized for privacy.
