Diesel Mechanic

Diesel Mechanic will perform repair work, maintenance and service of vehicles, as needed or as required to meet the DOT standards. Analyze all maintenance requirements assigned and determine the necessary resources required to repair or rebuild any job assignment.  Setting up, installing, repairing and maintaining vehicle fleet’s scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements by performing the following duties.

Prestage Farms is offering the opportunity to assist the appropriate individual in developing their career as a mechanic, including the possibility of aiding with ASE Certification.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.

• Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, tire, brake, and air system repairs on diesel semi-trucks and light duty vehicles.

• Perform welding tasks and repairs, including aluminum welding, as needed.

• Replace malfunctioning parts and write detailed work orders and parts used on repairs.

• Perform electrical repairs on light vehicles, trailers, and tractors.

• Perform suspension, drivetrain, and engine components removal and/or replacement.

• Help manage, count, and/or order inventory as needed or directed.

• Responsible for managing and carrying out the building preventative maintenance program.

• Responsible for managing and completing all maintenance and repair requests from transportation sites in a cost effective and timely manner.

• Responsible for establishing and monitoring quality repair standards from internal maintenance personnel.

• Responsible for training vehicle maintenance employees.

• Responsible for weekly communication to transportation supervisor for review of maintenance requests.

• Responsible for following bio-security pyramid in all maintenance tasks

• Available to assist in generator repairs as needed.

• Responsible for following all environmental laws and procedures to which Prestage Farms subscribes.

• Report all environmental issues immediately to supervisor.

• Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their worksite.

• Must maintain a safe and orderly shop.

• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

·         Valid driver’s license.

·         Must provide own tools to perform job.

·         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in maintenance or a related field.

·         Must be able to multitask & prioritize repairs.

·         Excellent organizational skills.

·         Excellent verbal communications skills.

·         Must be able to operate a 4WD truck, tractor and trailer.
