Scope of Position:
We are seeking a Building Automation Intern to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is eager to expand their skills in the Building Automation Systems (BAS) field. As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians, gaining valuable, real-world experience in a growing local commercial HVAC company.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation of complete Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Help service and repair various types of BAS software, components, and low-voltage systems.
- Work with senior technicians to diagnose operating issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Participate in commissioning, firmware updates, and calibration tasks.
- Learn and assist in programming sequence of operations and developing system graphics.
- Support project teams with troubleshooting and ensuring systems operate smoothly.
- Shadow experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience in BAS system operation and maintenance.
What Will Put You Ahead:
- A strong desire to develop your skills in the BAS field and grow professionally.
- Basic understanding or experience with DDC applications, particularly in the HVAC industry.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex BAS issues in an understandable way.
- Some experience with the Niagara platform or Delta Controls (preferred, but not required).
- Ability to assist in estimating and leading BAS installation projects as you gain more knowledge.
- A foundation in software programming, database management, and network configuration.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Basic understanding of computer networking, including routers, switches, and IP connections.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a related field of study (e.g., Building Automation, Industrial Controls, or HVAC) or a recent graduate looking to gain real-world experience.
- A willingness to learn and develop in the field of Building Automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to troubleshoot and fix complex systems.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
