We are currently seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our team at Kern-Liebers USA, Inc. As a Tool and Die Maker, you will play a crucial role in our production process, utilizing your expert knowledge and hands-on skills to fabricate, repair, and maintain precision tools and dies.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Repair, troubleshoot, change over, disassemble, clean, reassemble, manufacture, modify, and maintain tools and fixtures as required in a timely manner.
- Maintain spare part inventory for tool repairs and tool maintenance.
- Work and complete assigned projects in set time. Sense of urgency needed in responding to manufacturing.
- Suggest and make modifications to tools to increase productivity and reduce overall cost and equipment failure. Participate in department continuous improvement plans.
- Productive and positive interaction with other departments.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Reporting tooling status and updates to Plant Management. Notify Plant Management of any unusual conditions.
- Initiate root cause investigation to address any major tooling damage/failure. Report investigation results immediately to Plant Management.
- Ensure completion of tooling preventive maintenance work orders (PMs) 100% on time.
- Ensure that all tooling work orders are closed in timely manner. Ensure that all tooling records and related paperwork are filled appropriately and kept in compliance with company standards.
- Work in a safe manner. Ensure that all tools are in a safe working condition after all work is completed.
- Must follow all policies and procedures regarding environmental, health, and safety while striving towards minimizing energy and material use.
- Maintain the tooling department daily log.
- Must have good organizational skills and keep the maintenance tooling department clean, organized within 5S Principals.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Journeyman's Card preferred.
- Must have 5 (five) years of experience in tooling and machining.
- Knowledge of measuring equipment, surface grinders, lathe machines, and mills; as well as knowledge of or willingness to learn CNC Programming standard EDMS and drill presses.
- Tooling, blueprint, and schematics reading necessary.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Must be able to work independently with written or verbal instructions.
- Compliance with all Safety, TS 16949, and ISO 9000 requirements.
- Working knowledge of 5S.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate overhead hoist and any other equipment necessary to perform duties.
- Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for most of the shift. Some climbing, crawling, and/or kneeling may be required.
- Valid driver's license needed.
Benefits
This position pays $26.91/hr plus the chance to make an additional 15% incentive each week. This is a union position.
