Description
Workstate seeks a SQL Server DBA to work remotely.
This is a contract position supporting a client within the government sector. This position is available to U.S. residents based in the continental U.S. who are eligible to work for any employer without need for visa sponsorship or transfer.
Responsibilities
- Ensure best practices in database planning, design, configuration, performance and capacity planning and growth
- Monitor daily activities and performance of complex SQL environments, analyze technical problems, recommend adjustments, create and implement approved solutions using established tools and techniques.
- Provide technical assistance to the application development area and co-workers about SQL design and programming.
- Configure SQL services (e.g. security, JDBC, clusters)
- Plan, install, and coordinate SQL Server releases, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance. Build new environments as needed to support applications.
- Coordinate with the teams of network, IIS administrators and storage groups for SQL server-based configurations.
- Develop technical documents, project plans and tasks, interact with customers for proposed solutions.
- Provide non-production and production support for deploying code and assist in troubleshooting and resolving application issues.
- Support DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Mavin, Bitbucket, Kony Mobile, Nginx etc.)
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience within MS SQL Server environments
- Previous experience providing DBA support for distributed servers in a multi-datacenter environment including virtual machine servers
- Preferred: SQL Server DBA certification
