Full Job Description
Allied Machine & Engineering, headquartered in Dover, Ohio, is a leading manufacturer of holemaking and finishing cutting tool systems. Our tooling solutions deliver the lowest cost per hole in a wide range of applications.
The Heat Treat Operator will effectively and efficiently load and unload the hardening and tempering furnaces and run the appropriate furnace cycle based upon the order router and applicable procedures and charts. This individual will inspect each load per the inspection plan, after the hardening and tempering cycles, to determine if parts are within specifications and enter this data in the company database.
Location: 485 W. 3rd St. Dover, OH
Shift: 3:30 pm - Midnight (Shift Premium of $1.50/hour would apply)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mill spots on laser cut blanks per work instructions
- Prepare blades and load baskets as required by work instructions to minimize warpage during heat treating.
- Wash all blades. Maintain water levels in wash line and notify maintenance of any issues with the wash line.
- Build the insert load and prepare to put into Hardening furnace
- Build the holder load while maintaining order traceability.
- Build other loads based on router and work instructions
- Operate the Hardening and Tempering furnaces per the appropriate work instructions and charts.
- Verify daily the operation of the Rockwell Hardness Tester, and document in company database
- Inspect hardness from each furnace load using Rockwell Hardness Tester per the inspection plan after the hardening and tempering cycles to determine if parts are within specifications and enter this data in the company database.
- Check Hardening and Tempering furnaces’ SCADA charts periodically during cycles
- Complete weekly operator preventive maintenance tasks
- Maintain baskets and basket components in an organized manner
- Keep area clean and organized, keep staged material to be heat treated away from material that is to be or has been heat treated
- Keep production orders separate and organized by order number.
- Load and unload tables safely
- Process orders according to appropriate schedule and/or supervisor’s direction and properly stage product for the next operation
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
- Must be able to stand up to 12 hours per day
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 32lbs
Education
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in heat treat furnaces and/or equipment (preferred)
- Experience working with Rockwell Hardness Machine (preferred)
- Familiarity working with personal computers and data entry
Skills
- The ability to follow instructions and procedures in a cooperative manner
- Must be organized and thorough
