Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Composite Technician for it's Dayton, OH composite manufacturing operation.

Whether it's thermal protection systems for space vehicles, preforms for CMC components, or preforms and fabrics for carbon-carbon processing, we have the experience and expertise to help ensure our customer's success both as a reinforcement provider and through delivery of finished parts.

We are looking for a qualified Composites Operations Manager to lead production activities related to composite part manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience working around hot ovens/furnaces and have knowledge of proper chemical handling practices. They will be expected to maintain safety and productivity while working within a quality system, and they will oversee all aspects of production from supply chain management, to part production, and final delivery. The Composites Operations Manager will lead a staff of operators, technicians, and material handlers who are expected to perform a wide variety of hands-on activities including, but not limited to: kitting, molding, equipment maintenance, fabrication, and assembly. The Composites Operations Manager will lead the production team in meeting safety, performance, cost, and schedule standards to deliver finished product to our customers.

This is a full-time, direct hire position with 1st shift hours.

Responsibilities

Lead a manufacturing staff to produce and deliver advanced aerospace composite materials

  • Provide a safe work environment that is free from recognized hazards that cause or are likely to cause physical harm to employees, take corrective actions to eliminate recognized hazards, and hold employees accountable for actions. 
  • Review and approve plans for planned output controls, budget spending, labor efficiency and material efficiency.  
  • Study the organization's manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for process improvement or efficiency optimization applying lean manufacturing principles.
  • Coordinate daily production and service department activities to effectively meet customer requirements and other demands placed on plant operations. Implement activities to execute strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus. 
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. 
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies related to manufacturing operations. 
  • Hire and coordinate training for operations staff.
  • Provide direct supervision over operations staff. 
  • Assure performance goals and objectives are achieved and/or exceeded.
  • Enforce established operating policies and procedures.
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching and mentoring. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Applicant must be an exclusive US Citizen.
  • Applicant must be willing and able to apply for and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering at an accredited university is required.
  • Minimum 7 years experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience working with high temperature composites such as C/C or CMCs is a significant advantage.
  • Experience in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment is desired. 
  • Knowledge of successful performance management techniques and ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance. 
  • Independent thought, good judgment, problem solving skills, and ability to prioritize multiple projects is required. 
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing (Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen Teams, etc.) and similar work methodology is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy are required. 
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office and ERP Software is required. 
  • Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously and under pressure to complete assigned tasks.  
  • Must have ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal leadership and customers.
  • Must have ability to solve complex problems in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
  • Must have ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
