Full Job Description
Luxium Solutions in Hiram, OH is looking for an Applications Scientist to join our R&D team! The Applications Scientist is responsible for designing, conducting, and interpreting special radiation detector tests. This position will produce new, high performing, radiation detection materials and devices that provide a quality advantage in the markets of radiation detection and functional materials.
Essential Functions:
- Development and testing of new scintillation radiation detectors, imagers and components.
- Day-to-day operations of neutron and special scintillation measurements facilities at the Hiram and Newbury plants.
- Part of a team responsible for:
- developing new products, and assembly and testing procedures.
- developing new organic and inorganic scintillation materials.
- Preparation, operation, and maintenance of radiation detection systems, test equipment, and detailed record keeping.
- Acquisition and analysis of radiation detection data including ability to handle, interpret, and draw actionable conclusions from large data sets. Simulation of radiation detector systems will be required.
- Carrying out improvement experiments in all phases of radiation detectors and radiation imagers.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Radiation Science, Nuclear Science or Nuclear Engineering or similar required.
- PhD in Radiation Science, Nuclear Science or Nuclear Engineering or similar preferred.
- 5+ years' experience with testing and development of radiation materials.
