Full Job Description

The Strategic Business Solutions (SBS) Outsourced Controller performs complex outsourced services for clients. They serve as the outsourced controller and works as part of a team to provide a valuable client experience. This person will mentor and train employees in the SBS area, as well as assume responsibility for the client relationship and billings.

  • Acts as Outsourced Controller with analysis of accounting information for advisory services 
  • Calculates and reviews month end journal entries and analyzes and provides guidance to clients on balance sheet accounts 
  • Prepares reports and other documents, including financial statements, tax forms, sales tax reports, and others as requested 
  • Uses excellent judgment and analysis to make recommendations to streamline the accounting and finance operations of clients 
  • Manages accounting projects to meet client needs within a specified time frame 
  • Is responsible for the day-to-day accounting needs for clients providing financial analysis and acting as their accounting department 
  • Provides feedback to Outsourced CFO to grow the SBS practice 
  • Participates in the area of business development 
  • Works as part of a team to provide accounting services for clients 
  • Manages client relationships by monitoring client needs 
  • Is a key point of contact for the client on day to day accounting matters 
  • Oversees and reviews work of SBS Senior Accounting Specialists and Accounting Specialists including training and mentoring 
  • Utilized cloud-based technology to account for transactions in real time 
  • Seeks out opportunities to improve the client relationship and cross sell other BMA services 
  • Performs client billings for SBS services provided 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business required, a Bachelor’s in Accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required including experience managing staff
  • Licensed CPA or CMA license required
  • Understanding of GAAP guidelines
  • Strong technology skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
  • Team player
  • Ability to think innovatively
