Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections on heavy equipment, such as scrapers, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and other heavy equipment to detect and diagnose issues with their engines, transmission, or hydraulic systems.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans for all heavy equipment on site, ensuring that each machine is tuned to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Take apart engines and transmissions to perform repairs or replace malfunctioning parts.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, perform regular stock checks, and order new parts as needed.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including work orders, inspection reports, and any other relevant documents.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a field mechanic.
- Completion of a mechanic apprenticeship/internship program or equivalent training.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with industry-standard maintenance and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and be available for overtime work as needed.
- Must have your own basic tools to conduct Field Technician work.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment.
- Class B with the Airbrake endorsement
