Utility Operator-Compound- Pineville 1(Extrusion)

Job Summary

To provide support with blending, pelletizing, and grinding operations in the Compounding Department.  Activities include material handling, housekeeping, and 5S projects, assisting Grinder Operator with grinding operations, and assisting Blending Operator with mixing and pelletizing operations.  These activities shall be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product quality, production output, and cost control to achieve plant goals.

Principal Responsibilities

• Knowledge and understanding of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Must keep work area neat and clean at all times.
• General housekeeping and 5S activities within the department.
• Perform and document forklift start-up procedure.
• Place, remove, and organize material pallets within racking system as needed.
• Keep all pallets, materials, equipment, etc. organized as required within department.
• Load and unload various materials on and from delivery trucks.
• Handle, move, and stack Gaylords, palletized material, bins, and super sacks.
• Ability to work with limited Supervision.
• Notify Supervisor and/or Lead hands of any non-conformance or unknown conditions and assist in the corrective actions as required

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Completion of high school education or equivalent.
• Must have the ability to read, write and do advanced mathematics.
• Must be licensed to operate forklift truck, pallet truck and other material handling equipment.
• Have an understanding of all procedures and instructions as required by ANSI/ASQC A9002.
• Must have ability to use basic hand tools.
• Successful candidate must complete a CTPAT background check.
• Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter with good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills coupled with an eagerness to learn.
• Good teammate including with a demonstrated ability to contribute to and cultivate a positive team environment

Working Conditions

• Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, and lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
• Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required.
