We are committed to the safety of our employees and the communities we serve and currently seeking a dedicated Transportation Safety Specialist to join our team. The Transportation Safety Specialist will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with all regulations and promote a culture of safety within our organization.
Requirements
- Provide guidance and input on the development of future Safety and Compliance programs
- Provide after hours support to operations in the event of an incident or accident
- Be familiar with PHMSA requirements related to Haz-Mat Shipments and provide input to operations as needed
- Primary facilitator of the Givens Transportation Safety Committee
- Assist in the development and administration of New-Hire and Periodic Safety Training initiatives
- Provide input on vehicle specifications as they relate to safe operations
- Collect and report driver performance data quarterly to the Safety Director and Management for use in driver evaluations
- Driver Coaching - Identify areas of concern and provide guidance to Driver Managers on what needs to be addressed
- Participate in the fleet safety program including policies and procedures, audits and inspections by leading the data reporting and analysis of ELD/tracking data related to safety metrics
- Assist with Periodic OSHA Inspections to ensure a safe environment
- Anticipate and identify health and safety hazards in the workplace and work to implement new processes or technology
- Assist in maintaining all compliance records and files
- Perform DOT Log Audits (Daily) and work to resolve open items
- HOS Violations
- F&M Errors
- Unidentified Trips
- Ensure DOT Random D&A testing is executed in compliance with FMCSA regulations
- Perform monthly compliance audits (DQ, Equipment) and work with operations or the driver to resolve any findings
- Participate in the Annual Driver Qualification Review as required by FMCSA
Previous Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 years DOT Regulated Transportation Safety Experience
- Past experience performing classroom and in-cab driver training
- Past experience managing ELD HOS/Unassigned Trips
- CDL Holder Preferred, with Clean MVR
