Full Job Description
LAC Federal is seeking a Scholarly Communications Librarian to work for a prestigious federal library in the Research Triangle Park, Raleigh, North Carolina area. The Librarian will provide support public access to scientific research and work with researchers and scholars to ensure that required research data and manuscripts are submitted to a public access database. The Librarian provides training, technical support, and outreach for all aspects of scholarly communications including tracking and reporting on predatory journals. This is a full-time, hybrid position with benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as lead to assist researchers Public Access Policy Compliance
- Serves as the subject-matter expert and lead service point for the new manuscript tracking system, PACTS
- Provides support for legacy manuscript tracking system, MSMANAGER
- Advises on scholarly communications issues including identifying predatory journals and answering copyright questions
- Provides support for online researcher profiles and CV systems such as ORCID, ResearcherID, and My NCBI Bibliography
- Creates resource lists for diversity portfolio months
- Develops classes and training materials
- Teaches group and one-on-one training classes
- Assists with marketing and outreach events including content development for the website and The Connection
- Creates and deploys annual customer satisfaction survey and summarizes results
- Handles literature searches and bibliometric reports
Requirements
- Must be ACA-accredited MLS (Master of Library Science)
- Master’s degree in Library Science preferably with specialized or government libraries concentration
- Three (3) years of experience providing customer service in a library, educational or public service environment
- Three (3) years of experience using popular software programs with ability to learn new technology, preference given to candidates with experience in manuscript management systems
