Position Summary:
The Regulatory Tech will play a key role in supporting the company’s regulatory compliance efforts. This individual will manage and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals and fragrances, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to regulatory standards. The role will also involve liaising with suppliers, evaluating fragrance materials, and staying ahead of regulatory changes that could affect our product offerings. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and well-versed in chemical safety and regulatory documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Management:
- Manage SDS for all chemicals supplied by vendors.
- Convert supplier-provided SDS into CandleScience’s required format.
- Ensure that SDS are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Fragrance Evaluation & Qualification:
- Evaluate fragrance SDSs to ensure they meet the requirements for inclusion in the CandleScience CleanScents categories.
- Work with fragrance suppliers to ensure the materials meet CandleScience’s safety and regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Document Management:
- Receive, save, and update other key regulatory documents, including allergen statements, IFRA (International Fragrance Association) statements, and any other required regulatory filings.
- Organize and maintain a regulatory document database for easy access and reference.
- Supplier Liaison & Regulatory Intelligence:
- Establish and maintain strong communication with fragrance and chemical suppliers.
- Monitor and assess upcoming regulatory changes (e.g., IFRA, REACH) and work with suppliers to ensure timely updates.
- Stay informed on new and changing regulations that impact the fragrance industry and the candlemaking sector.
- Compliance Support:
- Assist in ensuring compliance with local, state, and international regulations related to fragrance safety and chemical handling.
- Help prepare and support regulatory audits and inspections as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or a similar role, preferably in the fragrance, cosmetics, or chemical industries.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and regulatory documentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies and standards (e.g., IFRA, REACH, OSHA).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret regulatory information and communicate effectively with internal teams and suppliers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Google Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with SDS management software or regulatory documentation systems is a plus.
- Additional Qualities:
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours a day
- Must be able to bend and move under racking
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times repetitively.
Work Environment:
Indoor warehouse environment
