Job Summary
As Materials Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the Materials Team. They will schedule work, provide training to personnel and work to improve safety, quality and productivity.
Principal Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work of the Team and personnel assigned to the secondary operations (CNC, IPS, Assembly and Repacks)
- Manages the regrind process and raw materials inventory and organization
- Manages the ordering of raw materials, packaging, and other production supplies for all departments. Monitors inventory levels to ensure required material is available when needed and coordinates purchasing needs to the corporate procurement group
- Ensures accuracy of purchase order, items received and monitors proper documentation of purchase orders, packing slips and material transfers
- Evaluate and continuously improve material handling and flow throughout the plant to maximize efficiency and reduce redundant work and waste
- Plans, directs, and coordinates movement of waste PVC (Purging and PVC shavings) material for external customer
- Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards and safety rules are adhered to
- Maintains employees’ time related to the Attendance and Lateness Policy
- Collaborates with departmental managers and HR in administering disciplinary action, when necessary
- Prioritizes problems, handles jobs and employee issues and ensures all employees are wearing safety equipment properly
- Assists in staffing job requirements and evaluates performance for their team
- Attends scheduled departmental and shift meetings to obtain and deliver necessary information and training, and follows up on actions resulting from these meetings
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- A grade 12 high school level education minimum, Community College preferred
- Completion of a Management Development Program, WHMIS Training and First Aid Training is required to properly perform the duties of this position
- 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a continuous operation facility
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally injection molding
- Knowledge of injection molding, machine operations and quality control are beneficial
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to motivate people
