Full Job Description
The Director of Community Impact position will be a key driver in the growth and influence of LatinxEd’s programs and resources in North Carolina's dynamic landscape of postsecondary access and leadership advancement. As the Director of Community Impact, you will have a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing LatinxEd’s advocacy initiatives. We are seeking a candidate with a strategic mindset, exceptional project and time management abilities, and outstanding interpersonal skills. Equally important, this individual will bring a track record of empowering Latine learners and leaders and fostering strong community relationships to further our shared objective of postsecondary success. In essence, this role will spearhead and expand LatinxEd’s efforts to make community-centered system-level change throughout North Carolina.
The Director of Community Impact position plays a critical leadership role in the following areas:
Strategic Planning & Evaluation
- Oversee the strategic planning and impact evaluation of LatinxEd's community impact-related programs, projects, and initiatives.
- Co-develop and lead a multi-year vision and approach to community impact, including strategic priorities, goals, and strategies.
- Assure that planning efforts are continual and reflect the organizational vision and mission; are transparent; and include a robust, bilingual community engagement component.
- Work with the Executive Director to proactively identify and address near- and long-term challenges and opportunities for community impact-related initiatives.
Field Innovation & Technical Assistance
- Identify which products, deliverables, campaigns, reports, etc. LatinxEd should invest in to inform the broader field of education, e.g. reports, op-ed creation on current events and issues, social media outreach, etc.
- Lead LatinxEd’s technical assistance for educational institutions and community partners, creating project roadmap and goals, community engagement strategies, and postsecondary outcomes (e.g. adult learner recruitment, immigrant student and family friendly policies, first-generation student retention).
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, ex. schools, community colleges, universities, policy legislators, funders, and other community partners
- Identify and connect with potential clients and partners interested in investing in increasing postsecondary access and success for Latine and immigrant learners.
Team & Project Direction
- Identify staff, consultants, and skills needed to effectively execute community impact projects, particularly technical assistance consulting projects with K-12 and community college partners.
- Collaborate with team members through recurring check-in’s to establish a positive team culture and active communication.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews, provide frequent constructive feedback, and encourage opportunities for professional growth.
- Provide, in a timely manner, information and materials required for project meetings, reviews, and decision-making.
Financial Oversight
- Oversee the development of, and adherence to, community impact-related budgets.
- Ensure best practice financial management strategies are followed and meet compliance requirements specific to various funding sources.
- Support development and communication practices to contribute to larger organizational efforts in actively cultivating new and existing revenue sources.
Requirements
- 4-5 years experience in organizational leadership, with a preference for work in postsecondary access, public policy, social justice, economic development, leadership development, or related fields.
- Working knowledge and personal experience related to positive racial/ethnic identity development for Latinx youth and adults in the rural South.
- Multiple years of staff supervisory and team leadership experience.
- Experience with budget preparation and management.
- Ability to work and travel in North Carolina full-time.

Note: Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is not required, but encouraged.

Compensation
We are looking for candidates who are available to work full-time (40 hours/week) in North Carolina. Please note this position is hybrid (remote and in-person) and requires flexibility to travel. Compensation for this position will range from $70,000 to $75,000.
Hiring Timeline
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a final deadline of May 15th, 2024. Finalist candidates can expect a virtual and in-person interview process. We propose a start date of July 1st, 2024 for this position. However, we are open to an earlier start date dependent on our candidate pool and due diligence process.
