Compensation $24.07-$27.23

Job Summary

We are seeking a Die Setup Technician to focus on Die Shop activities for the purposes of pipe production. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and maximizing safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost control to achieve plant goals. This position reports to the Production Shift Supervisor and will work a rotating 12-hour rotating shift schedule (4 Nights on, 4 Night off: 7pm - 7am).

Principle Accountabilities

  • Required to disassemble, clean, inspect, and accurately reassemble all types of pipe dies and install dies on machine with limited supervision and limited instructions.
  • Assist pipe department in start-up of pipe dies when necessary.
  • Use acetylene torch with supervision.
  • Fill out and use necessary reports and forms.
  • Keep individual work area neat and clean, tooling in order, and assist in general departmental housekeeping when necessary.
  • Ability to start extrusion lines from ¼” pipe to 16” PVC and CPVC lines and put into production to meet all required specification and quality standards.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and cranes when needed.
  • Comply and support the hazardous condition program by reading labels and MSDS’s, following warnings, precautions and work instructions, using the compliant personal protective equipment, learning emergency procedures, and practicing safe work habits in compliance with EH&S/ISMS.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and work practices as outlined by the HR Best Practices – USA, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and EH&S programs at all times.
  • Other duties as related and/or assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge & Skills

  • Completion of high school diploma or practical equivalent desired.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience in a Die Shop, with Chemicals, or blending is an asset.
  • Must have moderate trouble shooting ability.
  • Ability to accurately use tapes, rules, and other measuring instruments.
  • A basic understanding of electricity.
  • Acceptable level of literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Functional knowledge of health and safety practices.


Working Conditions

Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labor, lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects (50-75 lbs.), standing and walking covers majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stresses to this position. The incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace Health and Safety rules and Safe Work Practices.
