Full Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for Complete Vehicle (CV) department in the product development process. The engineering technician will work in the Volvo Instrumentation Lab and support test activities with harness manufacturing, creating custom transducers, equipment troubleshooting, and repair.
Responsibilities:
• Manufacture instrumentation and equipment harnesses to support the internal verification and validation activities
• The candidate must have basic electrical knowledge & desire to learn
• Highly proficient in soldering and knowledge of operating tools and equipment needed to perform the required work
• Ability to create, read and update wiring diagrams according to company standards
• Ability to create wiring harnesses following documented schematics and data sheets
• Assemble connectors with including component per company standards
• Assist with sensor and harness repair as needed
• Verify the functionality of instrumentation by following documented procedures
• Ensure quality of work is in line with the requirements of the testing applications
• Support internal 5S procedures to maintain a clean work environment
• Positive attitude and great work ethic
• Ability to work independently and support a challenging delivery schedule
The ideal candidate will develop skills in document wiring harness and power cable components (wires, cables, connectors, passives, brackets, and cable channels). Develop custom gauge transducers, data acquisition system input cables, and harnesses based on received requirements and using CAD / MS-Visio tools. They will design technical solutions, identify improvements, and propose new technical solutions. The Experienced level applies practical knowledge typically obtained through education and work experience. Individual is self-sufficient, takes lead on own tasks, and is able to work/plan independently. Additionally they have driven proactive engagement with learning opportunities and ongoing Experienced development.
Requirements
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
• A.S. Degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Basic PC skills in MS Office tools
• 2 ~ 5 years experience of working with strain gauges, transducers, or harnesses manufacturing and repair
