Position Summary:
Wildlife Works is an international conservation company whose mission is to stop deforestation by providing alternative income streams to forest communities. With offices and employees in seven countries and growing, Wildlife Works is looking to fill this newly created role that will report directly to the Wildlife Works Head of Global Accounting. This position will also work closely with Wildlife Works’ international subsidiaries’ accounting managers. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) at the corporate level. Candidate should possess a solid accounting background, preferably with experience managing AR and AP teams and processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the AR and AP process for the US parent company
- Manage the AR and AP staff
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual close process
- Oversee and routinely review sales, inventory, and cost of sales transactions
- Manage all aspects of accounting for fixed assets;
- coordinate accounting for fixed assets across the Company, interfacing with the IT manager, Director of Global Logistics, and international subsidiaries’ accounting managers and in-country staff
- Assist as needed on special projects and major CAPEX initiatives
- Support of procurement (PO) system implementation
- Prepare quarterly and annual fixed asset schedules and journal entries including acquisitions, depreciation, and write-off journal entries
- Coordinate with international subsidiaries’ accounting managers to ensure correct accounting practices for shared assets
- Reporting
- Prepare regional and corporate financial reporting packages for the Company’s Board of Directors, investors, major customers and global management team, including variance analysis to forecast and budget
- Compliance with global accounting policies and understanding of local requirements that may impact parent company profitability
- Work collaboratively with US and international accounting staff:
- to assist in consolidation of international subsidiaries up to the Company’s parent level financial statements
- to ensure financial statements at the subsidiary and corporate level accurately reflect GAAP and IFRS as appropriate
- to support compliance with global accounting policies and understanding of local requirements that may impact parent company profitability
- to support the financial audits at the parent and subsidiary level as required
- Assist with any potential and future accounting system transformations
- Support the Company’s external audit efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned, ultimately be willing to assist the Head of Global Accounting in any and all duties deemed necessary to maintain financially and socially successful carbon projects / programs
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, CPA preferred
- 4+ years work experience in AP & AR
- 2+ years of people management experience in a corporate accounting group
- Highly detail oriented and focused
- Microsoft Office skills (particularly advanced Excel abilities) with Word and PowerPoint a plus
- Strong project and time management skills with the ability to work within short time frames and to navigate between changing priorities and tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Experience working in a culturally diverse, international growth environment; proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus
- The ability to travel internationally at least 4 times per year, often to remote locations in the Global South
