Location: Winston-Salem, NC but 33% travel to Gardena, CA in the first year as the new facility is being built in Winston-Salem, NC
Reports to: VP of Research and Development
Position Summary:
- The Development Engineer will lead product and process development projects for high temperature materials, C/Phenolic, C/C, and C/SiC composites.
- Detailed project management of development opportunities and technical oversight of company product lines.
- Drive the costing of new products, perform trials, and report results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the customer-facing technical expert for company manufacturing processes, which includes silica leaching, carbonization, and CVI treatments.
- Identify new business opportunities and participate in the vetting of development projects to determine feasibility and prioritization.
- Maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to facilitate the development of new products in a rapidly changing environment.
- Conform to the company’s APQP process for developing new products and converting new products to production.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field or higher, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the development of high temperatures composite materials; knowledge of C/Phenolic tape wrapping and CVI processing is preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate product requirements and compose technical reports to share data and findings to stakeholders.
