Mindex's Product Division is dedicated to creating innovative products from the ground up. They are involved in every step of the process, from software development to sales, training, support, and maintenance. This division includes SchoolTool, New York State’s market-leading Student Management System designed to meet the unique needs of NYS K-12 schools, as well as the Mindex Integration Platform, focused on creating seamless out-of-the-box and custom integration solutions to address business application and process challenges.
As a UX Designer, you will be involved in every step of design, including research, ideation, mapping user flows, prototyping, creating mockups, and designing high-fidelity UIs. UX designers work with guidance from senior team members, prepare digital assets for the development team, and take on side projects to learn new design skills and grow their expertise. In this role you will perform the following essential functions:
Essential Functions
- Conduct user research meetings with stakeholders to collect feedback for enhancement of the user’s experience and to solve business needs.
- Translate requirements into useful, usable, and desirable interfaces, partnering with UX team members, product owners and engineers.
- Sketch, wireframe, and create mockups and prototypes using industry standard tools like Figma (preferred), Adobe XP, Sketch.
- Bring clarity to a project with a design-thinking approach to optimize the user experience in the form of low-and-high fidelity wireframes and other necessary artifacts (e.g., flow diagrams) to communicate the design to engineering teams.
- Produce detailed designs to ensure accurate implementation. Actively participate in discussions, presentations and contribute to multiple complex design projects.
Requirements
- BA or BS Degree in UX Design, New Media design, or a related field with a minimum of three - five years of experience in UX/UI design. Experience with HCI (Human computer interaction), UI Design, mobile app and responsive design, and usability.
- Three - five years of experience in Agile development environments preferred
- Proficient in knowledge of UX design process, familiarity with UX research, and working with a team
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proven experience with prototyping tools like Figma (preferred), Adobe XP, Sketch
- Working knowledge of CSS, HTML, Javascript, XHTML, MXML, Flex a plus
- Strong information design skills
- Proficiency in facets of the design process, talented and skilled in at least one of the following major areas: visual and motion design, or interaction and information architecture design
- Knowledge of development management tools like Azure DevOps (Preferred), Jira, Trello

The band range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, education, experience, training, certifications, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at, or near, the top of the range for their role; and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range for this role is $70,000 - $120,000.
