Full Job Description
As a Technical Designer at Local Projects, you must have a passion for audio-visual technology and its application in exhibition design. You will play a crucial role in supporting the execution of audio-visual elements within our exhibition projects. You will use your knowledge and experience of AV systems and your creativity to design and draft solutions for a range of integrations between AV hardware, software systems, and physical design.
This role interfaces with clients and their AV designers and integrators, provides leadership and oversight to the technical development of interactive and linear media, provides oversight to software development teams with a focus on hardware and infrastructure integration, and works with creative and production teams across a project’s lifecycle.
- Must be able to work on-site in our NYC Studio /Flexible Hybrid
- Must reside in the NY/TriState Area
- Must be able to travel (US & Global)
Requirements
- Drafting technical designs and AV block diagrams in CAD
- Modeling in Rhino 3D to study technical designs including projection studies
- Assist in the setup, testing, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment for prototypes
- Support the creation of proof of concepts and functional mockups to vet creative ideas and technical possibilities
- Collaborate with designers to understand and implement audio-visual elements based on project requirements.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to audio, video, and interactive displays.
- Support the creation and editing of audio and video content for exhibition displays.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in audio-visual production.
- Assist in documenting and archiving audio-visual setups and configurations.
- Contributing to the design process
- Contributing to software architectures and interactive AV systems
- Specifying hardware and software solutions
- Contributing to technical specifications and requirements gathering
- Performing research and technical demos of new technologies
- VR previz and virtual prototyping with Enscape
Qualifications:
- Degree in Audio Visual Technology, Media Production, or a related field/equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of professional experience
Skills:
- Proficient in drafting technical designs in AutoCAD
- Proficient in Rhino 3D software
- Basic understanding of audio-visual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, and interactive displays.
- Proficiency in audio and video editing software is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality and creativity.
- Knowledge of TouchDesigner and/or Unity is a plus
Salary: $75- $90 per hour (commensurate with experience)
