Full Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior Associate to join our client's tax department at a large local bank. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities to ensure the bank's adherence to tax regulations while optimizing its tax position.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions
- Conduct research on tax issues affecting the banking industry
- Support tax planning initiatives and strategies
- Prepare tax-related account reconciliations and analyses
- Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary tax information
- Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations
- Participate in process improvement initiatives within the tax department
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably in the banking sector
- CPA certification or actively pursuing it
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and tax accounting principles
- Familiarity with tax software and research tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
- Experience with bank-specific tax issues and reporting requirements
- Knowledge of state and local tax regulations
