Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior Associate to join our client's tax department at a large local bank. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities to ensure the bank's adherence to tax regulations while optimizing its tax position.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions
  • Conduct research on tax issues affecting the banking industry
  • Support tax planning initiatives and strategies
  • Prepare tax-related account reconciliations and analyses
  • Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary tax information
  • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives within the tax department

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably in the banking sector
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing it
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and tax accounting principles
  • Familiarity with tax software and research tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting
  • Experience with bank-specific tax issues and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of state and local tax regulations
