Verinext is recruiting for a contract System Administrator you will be responsible for ensuring the operational reliability and integrity of the enterprise Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment. Your role encompasses a broad range of tasks including server management, system troubleshooting, and project collaboration across various IT initiatives.
We're looking for a dedicated professional to join us in Brooklyn, NY, where your presence onsite for our client will play a pivotal role in our operations.
Requirements
Responsibilities
- Microsoft Windows Environment Management
- Manage day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment.
- Install, maintain, and manage both physical and virtual servers, backup systems, and application servers.
- Handle Microsoft Windows Server OS configuration changes to meet requirements for applications, web servers, and database servers.
- System Administration and Support
- Perform systems troubleshooting, remediation, and root cause analysis to resolve interruptions, failures, and outages.
- Act as a tier 2/3 escalation point for support escalations and on-site requirements.
- Facilitate collaboration on IT projects and initiatives, working with both professional services and on-premises teams.
- Virtualization Management
- Administer VMware vSphere, Microsoft Azure, and AWS environments.
- Configure and build virtual machines (VMs) within Hyper-V, VMware, and Azure.
- Active Directory and Group Policy Management
- Advanced administration of Microsoft Active Directory including user/security group management, group policies, DHCP, DNS, and Windows file servers.
- Expertise in configuring and administering Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enhance security and compliance.
- Backup and Recovery
- Oversee backup systems, both on-premises and cloud-based, ensuring regular backup, testing, and recovery processes are in place.
- Office 365 and Mobile Device Management
- Configure and support Office 365 environments.
- Administer mobile device management (MDM) through platforms such as Intune and other MDM solutions.
- Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Generate and maintain documentation for configuration processes and procedures.
- Identify and communicate technical findings, recommending changes to support best practices and continuous improvement.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Perform physical server/rackmount equipment rack and stack when necessary.
- Manage relationships with partners, clients, and resellers for license renewals, certificate generation, product purchases, and application administration.
Required Qualifications
- Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.
- Relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or VMware VCP are preferred.
- Experience
- 2-4+ years managing and supporting Microsoft servers and workstations.
- 2-4+ years’ experience managing and deploying VMware vSphere infrastructure.
- 1-2+ years managing and deploying Microsoft Azure resources.
- 1-2+ years in a lead systems administrator role with experience overseeing or guiding teams.
- Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server OS.
- Proficient in configuring Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Strong experience with PowerShell for scripting and automation tasks.
- Expertise in virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, Azure) and VM configuration/building.
- Proficient in backup and recovery solutions, both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) is a major plus.
- Intermediate/advanced Office 365 and Microsoft Exchange administration.
- Microsoft Intune experience for mobile device management.
- Networking and Systems Knowledge
- Basic understanding of network technology, including subnetting, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with power distribution equipment (UPS, PDUs, PSUs, power circuits).
- Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent documentation skills for configuration and procedural processes.
- Customer Service Orientation: Excellent customer-facing skills with a strong, confident personality. Able to communicate effectively with clients, partners, and internal teams.
- Ability to Work Under Pressure: Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently in high-demand environments, maintaining a positive and solutions-oriented approach.
Compensation Range:
- $40/HR - $50/HR
