Position Overview:

This Sr Manager of Credit, Institutional Group will lead and inspire our Private Client Operations underwriting team, reporting to the VP of Operations.  Your role will focus on managing a team of highly skilled underwriters, performing credit analysis for substantial portfolio loans, and offering expert guidance on intricate commercial real estate transactions. You will oversee production and performance while ensuring high-quality underwriting within specified credit limits. Additionally, you will prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and actively contribute to credit committee discussions. 

This is a full-time employment opportunity based out of our New York office.

Responsibilities:

  • Review financial documents to assess creditworthiness & eligibility for financing, authorizing loans ranging from $5M to $10M, and fully underwriting loans exceeding $10M.
  • Present and attend credit committee meetings to discuss deal-related issues, and address potential guideline gaps to ensure informed decision-making. Evaluate various properties and borrower investments to identify potential risks, understand experience level and performance, ensuring thorough due diligence and informed decision-making.  
  • Create detailed credit summary reports, including but not limited to Credit ASR, Memo, and Loan Tape for Institutional Group, that consolidate loan applications and credit analyses, offering a comprehensive evaluation of loans, properties, and borrowers to be submitted to Capital Partners. 
  • Manage and mentor a team of credit analysts, ensuring their performance meets quality and productivity standards. Conduct second-level reviews on smaller loans from junior underwriters to ensure critical items are addressed. .
  • Manage post-closing credit deficiencies, ensuring minimal errors and preventing unsalable loans.
  • Ensure productivity levels and turnaround times meet management expectations, prioritizing underwriting, credit reviews, and team oversight to meet various deadlines.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and/or related field.
  • Strong ability to understand business goals and problem solve effectively.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, written & verbal, to effectively collaborate with all professionals across the organization. 
  • In-depth understanding of the real estate investment industry with proven experience in credit analysis and underwriting. 
  • Excellent business relationship management skills, with the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of business stakeholders.
