Why We’re Hiring An SMS Engagement Associate

We’ve shown an impressive ability to connect with everyday Americans on issues that can impact their lives and how their choices can result in getting more money in their pockets. We’ve done that with an incredibly lean team, and mostly over SMS. As we increase the number of messaging campaigns and audience segments we’re messaging to, we’re ready to expand our team. The SMS Associate will play a crucial role in coordinating day to day SMS operations, as well as tracking and analyzing how our messages perform. The right candidate would help take our SMS program to a whole new level of performance.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As an SMS Engagement Associate you would be responsible for building and executing messaging for various campaigns and initiatives. Not only would you be sending messages, but you’d be the point person who keeps track of all of our team’s messaging performance. This means spending regular time in the inbox getting a sense of where our members are at, what they want, and how we can improve our messaging to achieve our goals. Additionally, you’ll help with our WorkMoney Resource Center program, where we’re aiming to connect our members to government benefits. This would involve helping compose and build scripts, tracking data requests, and assisting the SMS Manager in planning.

In the first three months, we expect the SMS Associate to quickly learn the operations components of our SMS work, ensuring messages are sent on time, with minimal bugs, and regularly reporting on the performance of those messages. More specifically:

  • SMS Execution
    • Build, send, QA and schedule multiple SMS text messages in Strive for a variety of campaigns
    • Manage the back-end of our text message platform (group assignments, uploads, etc.)
    • Collaborate within the Engagement team and across teams to ensure data and messaging plans have been accurately documented and communicated
    • Peer to peer texting program coordination as needed, including setting up shifts, tracking approvals, and more
  • Data & Reporting
    • Regular analysis of the SMS inbox
    • Complete weekly messaging performance reports
    • Present regularly on messaging performance, flagging any irregularities and making recommendations for ways we can improve operationally or from a content perspective
    • Manage data requests

Once you become well versed in the operations and data reporting components, we expect the right candidate to lean into creative tasks and/or strengthen their program analysis skills. Growing in this role could look like taking on any of the below responsibilities:

  • Pitch and draft messages for national and state specific campaigns
  • Propose strategies to boost engagement rates
  • Surface upward or downward trends and high or underperforming content
  • Propose new ways to efficiently and effectively communicate with members in timely ways
  • Compile org-wide reports on data, message replies, and trends

Requirements

We are looking for a results-driven, creative, and collaborative marketer who is passionate about content strategy, storytelling, and customer-centricity.

Must Haves

  • 1-3 years experience in managing, creating, and/or executing digital campaigns
  • Ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast paced work environment with shifting priorities
  • At least 1 year of experience with project management or similar position
  • Experience with a p2p texting platform like Strive, Hustle, or Thru Text
  • Strong communication skills and ability to “manage up”
  • Multitasker who is up for juggling priorities and keeping all stakeholders on task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and across functions to achieve shared goals
  • Freakishly attentive to detail

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with basic data and analytics such as A/B testing, making spreadsheets, and general quantitative reporting
  • Experience working on a campaign or a fast-paced, campaign-like environment
  • Belief that politicians should be focused more on the economic needs of everyday Americans

Benefits

We’re proud to offer generous benefits like competitive pay, expansive paid time off options, and employer contributions to retirement and student loan repayment. WorkMoney covers the premiums for healthcare, dental, and vision plans so you don’t have to, offers a 6% 401K employer match, four weeks paid vacation, generous paid family and medical leave, and annual allowances for remote work and professional development.

The salary for this role is $66,950 annually and as part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the salary for this position is non-negotiable.

Why Join Our Team?

The truth of the matter is: we’re doing meaningful work with really cool people and having a great time doing it.
