Senior Sweater Designer (NYC)

Our Company:  BCI Brands designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's career, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all primary retail distribution levels principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names.

Responsibilities:

• Creating development tech packs to request proto samples
• Fitting protos and sending comments
• Making sure that sample yarn is ordered and dyed/lab dipped in order to make showroom samples for the sales team
• Sourcing yarn qualities

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in the sweater industry
• Exhibit a strong work ethic, leadership skills, high energy level, and detail-oriented
• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation skills
• Must understand the process behind mass market sweater manufacturing (from a design and technical design perspective)
• Needs strong technical knowledge in sweater making including: yarn qualities & sizes, and knitting techniques & stitches
• Comprehension of fully fashioned sweater construction and fit
• Must be able to create development techpacks for proto making and eventual showroom sample making
• Must be able to sketch styles either by hand or have a working knowledge of Illustrator or similar program for computer sketching and CAD making
• Must be able to multitask and work cross functionally with multiple teams on several brands simultaneously
• Must be able to work independently but also be a team player 
• Capable of effective correspondence with overseas factories
• Must be authorized to work in the US.

This is a full-time, exempt role offering a salary of $100-120k+
