We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering for Commerce. This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Commerce experiences — both on and off our eComm site. You will lead several distributed engineering teams, drive the development and execution of our engineering strategy, and focus on delivering exceptional value to our members through innovative digital experiences.  You'll play a critical role in fostering a culture of quality and operational excellence, and ensuring our product roadmap aligns with company objectives.

What you will do: 

  • Enable the business to reach its goals by innovating, building and operating the ecommerce and membership platform for our members, and our business customers and partners.
  • Cultivate and lead a dynamic, high-performing Commerce group that embodies operational excellence, ownership, and thrives on solving complex problems through innovative approaches.
  • Act as a mentor to your managers and teams, inspiring innovation and facilitating continuous professional growth and development. Create an environment that encourages experimentation and the exploration of new technologies.
  • Design and implement a forward-thinking engineering strategy that aligns with our tech strategy and mission to grow ŌURA’s reach. Prioritize scalability, agility, and member satisfaction to ensure our engineering efforts contribute directly to business growth.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with senior leadership, offering clear and concise updates on project progress, potential risks, and identifying new opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Partner closely with the Commerce Product Lead and other key stakeholders to develop a detailed product roadmap that balances competing interests, and prioritizes initiatives that advance our strategic objectives and enhance our market position.
  • Strategic oversight of budgeting, recruitment, and organizational development to assemble and nurture a world-class engineering team capable of meeting our ambitious goals.

This is a remote US role with a slight preference for candidates based in the East Coast.


We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership roles within product and/or platform engineering, with a proven track record in eCommerce or similar consumer-facing digital domains.
  • Strong business insight with the ability to apply technical solutions strategically to meet business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse, geographically-distributed teams, adept at navigating the complexities of multiple locations and time zones effectively.
  • Proficiency in modern software development methodologies, with a commitment to upholding high engineering standards and practices to ensure our platform remains cutting-edge and efficient.
  • Experience with modern eCommerce platforms, PSPs, fraud prevention tooling a significant advantage

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates’ pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

  • Region 1 $237,405 - $300,195
  • Region 2 $225,535 - $295,195
  • Region 3 $213,665 - $285,076
