Full Job Description

BCI Brands designs, sources, and markets nationally and internationally an extensive range of women's careers, casual sportswear, and dresses. Their products are sold through all significant levels of retail distribution, principally under various trademarks and under private label brand names.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process from concept to execution for our contemporary dress collections, ensuring that designs are innovative, commercially viable, and aligned with the brand's aesthetic and target market.
  • Research and analyze current fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market demands to inform design decisions and drive product development.
  • Create original sketches and technical drawings for new dress designs, considering factors such as silhouette, fabric selection, color palette, and embellishments.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including pattern makers, sample makers, and production managers, to ensure the successful execution of designs within established timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct fittings and oversee the prototyping process, making necessary adjustments to achieve the desired fit, silhouette, and quality standards.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to creativity and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and consumer feedback through market research, trend analysis, and attendance at fashion events and trade shows.
  • Represent the brand professionally and effectively in interactions with external partners, including suppliers, manufacturers, and industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Dress Designer (daytime/evening wear), with a focus on contemporary fashion.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing original designs and technical proficiency.
  • In-depth knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other design software.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for quality craftsmanship.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and trends.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

This is a full-time, exempt role offering a salary range of $150-200k, dependent on your experience.
