Full Job Description
A Senior Content Developer at Local Projects plays a key role in shaping the creative output of our projects by participating in ideation with the design team and undertaking all content development tasks. These include defining the strategic focus, organization of all content into a comprehensible structure, subject research, theme and story development, writing, asset research, collection reviews, story development for digital media, and articulating the overall visitor experience. Content Developers work closely with designers and directors to develop new storytelling experiences in order to shape the overall visitor experience.
As the leader of the content development process, the Content Developer will collaborate with the internal design team and the client to craft storylines and a content hierarchy for the creation of the visitor experience. They will develop all content deliverables for client meetings and presentations.
Under the direction of their Creative Director, Project Manager, and/or Director of Content, Senior Content Developers maintain successful working relationships with the client team, supporting a workflow process that works for both teams and ensuring that the client can meet their tasks and deliverables.
A Senior Content Developer will have sound knowledge of the scopes of experience design work from concept through installation.
The role requires an individual who is a team player, able to support multiple projects of different types, and capable of adapting to each project in order to get the work done.
Requirements:
- Available 30+ hours a week
- Has experience in content development in some or all of the following areas: US history, Black history, social justice, social issues; and experience developing storytelling for digital media
- At least six to ten years of related experience
- Able to travel as necessary (US & Global)
- Must be able to work on-site in our NYC Studio/Hybrid
- Primary residence must be in NY/Tri-State or Washington DC area
Requirements
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the internal team, client, subject matter experts, and client stakeholders to develop strategic goals and content frameworks for the project
- Develop a complete understanding of the project content, be able to articulate core themes, topics, and stories
- Develop workshop and interview approaches for working with subject matter experts to gather all relevant content for the project
- Inspire the internal team with clear and relevant content goals that will inform design approaches and ensure visitors engage with storytelling
- Diagram frameworks and matrices for presentations and deliverables
- Research, synthesize, and write to the highest levels
- Develop storyboards for digital media experiences
- Design and populate content databases
- Handle client communications regarding content iteration, deliveries, and needs
- Help maintain the internal team content workflow and client-facing content working process
Required Skills/Abilities
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills both internal and client-facing
- Strategic planning
- Excellent software skill set for presentations (Keynote, PowerPoint), documentation (Google and Microsoft Suites), and databasing (AirTable or similar)
- Outstanding writing skills for visitor experiences
- Outstanding research skills and the ability to analyze large amounts of information
- Excellent skills in developing content for digital media
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven collaborative work processes, across client and subject experts, of all disciplines, as well as with other content team members
- Asset sourcing/liaison experience with cultural institutions, archives, and/or stock agencies
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to function well in an agile environment
Salary: $45-$75 per hour (commensurate with experience)
