Full Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Communications Manager to work with the Director of Corporate Affairs and Consumer Communications and the Director of Digital, Content and Communications to lead Virgin’s media relations efforts in the US.

You’ll be highly skilled at developing and executing media strategies from concept through to completion that enhance Virgin’s brand visibility, manage our reputation, and drive positive coverage. Whilst crisis management will be fundamental, you’ll also play a key role in partnering with companies across our exciting and broad Virgin group.

Tell me more

  • Develop and implement comprehensive media strategies aligned with organisational objectives across our core territories.
  • Develop insight-led, multi-channel PR campaigns, underpinned by comprehensive analytics targeted to help shift the needle in our brand awareness and preference scores.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and proactively build and maintain relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers.
  • Ensure the press office runs an efficient proactive and reactive service for print, digital and broadcast media.
  • Work closely with the Digital & Content team to develop compelling and newsworthy content for media distribution. Create press releases, media kits, and other materials to support media outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with the crisis management team to develop and implement communication strategies during sensitive situations. Provide timely and accurate information to the media to manage and mitigate potential reputational risks.
  • Drive key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and impact of media relations efforts.

What you’ll need

  • You may come from a Director of Communications, Head of Communications, Senior Communications Manager or similar role.
  • A deep understanding of the media landscape in the US and a proven track record of building strong relationships with journalists.
  • A seasoned communications professional with an excellent network of contacts across business, financial, consumer and trade media, and a proven track record of managing corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management.
  • Crisis communication experience and ability to handle high-pressure situation.
  • Proven success in securing positive media coverage and managing media relationships.
  • Experience in working with high profile individuals

Location: New York (1-2 days per week) & your home space Salary: $135-145k plus bonus
