Full Job Description
Join our team at Amazing Athlete's After School Program at PS 166 as a Science K-1 Afterschool Instructor! We're seeking a dynamic and passionate educator to inspire the young minds of kindergarteners and first graders. Your mission is to make learning science enjoyable and accessible, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of discovery.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate science curriculum for students in grades K-1.
- Create engaging lesson plans and accompanying materials, such as slides and hands-on activities, based on provided outlines.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies to convey scientific concepts in a digestible way for young children.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and ask questions.
- Use classroom management techniques to maintain a productive and respectful atmosphere during lessons.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student learning and development.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to ensure academic growth.
- Communicates effectively and timely with management regarding student and program related matters.
- Uses company-wide digital platforms to perform administrative tasks (ie: taking attendance, submitting incident reports as needed, etc.)

Schedule:
- Days: Wednesday & Friday
- Time: 2:40pm - 5:40pm

Requirements
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on education preferred.
- Basic knowledge of science and the scientific method.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts, rules and expectations in a clear and understandable way for young children.
- The ability to create effective lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Confidence and assertiveness in using voice for classroom management purposes.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, while also collaborating effectively with others.
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High level of professionalism and motivation
- Neat, professional appearance
Benefits
- $50-55 per session (2 sessions in a day)
