Safety & Health Technician - Construction (NY)

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician is responsible for assisting with the management and supervision of the company’s EHS programs and procedures to protect its employees and contractors from occupational safety, environmental and health hazards at our construction sites and office locations.

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician ensures all managers and supervisors insist on the maximum safety performance and awareness of all workers under their direction by enthusiastically and consistently administering all safety and health policies and procedures established in the CS Energy Environmental Health & Safety Program.

This position is responsible for the implementation of the project-specific health and safety plan and for the daily coordination of EHS activities with the Project Management Team. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure the site complies with the current Health and Safety Plan (HASP).
• Ensures site compliance with specified safety and health requirements including federal, state, and local laws, as well as OSHA regulations and all aspects of the HASP.
• Ensures the Project Supervision enforces the EHS procedures and policies and address non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ensures proper personal protection equipment (PPE) is available and worn by project personnel.
• Participates in weekly Safety and Quality huddle to ensure the project is pre-planning for safety.
• Ensure the incident alerts and toolbox talk are presented at the weekly safety meetings.
• Assist site teams in effort to “ZERO INCIDENTS” daily.
• Performs regular onsite EHS inspections.  Recommends corrective action, if required, and follows up on deficiencies.
• Ensures all project documentation is being completed correctly and ensures it remains available on-site (i.e., Daily Reports/Field Notes, Safety Audits, Daily Safety Meetings (Take 5), Accident Investigation, Weekly Safety Meeting, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), SWPPP inspections).
• Assists with accident/injury investigations and recommends corrective actions.
• Delivers OSHA and company training as needed and qualified for.
• Assists site teams to ensure SWPPP compliance.
• Assist site teams in managing remediation of any environmental issues, such as spills, questions about working in wetlands, etc. by coordinating with EHS Specialist.

Requirements

• Entry level to 1 year of relevant EHS experience in the industrial, construction or environmental fields, with a focus on injury prevention, contractor safety programs, equipment operation safety, electrical safety, and loss/damage control. 
• Certified or pursuing certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or advanced degree.
• Has completed, or will complete, an OSHA  30 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Course.
• OSHA 510, preferred.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills a must.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal capabilities.
• Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office products.
• This role will require frequent overnight travel.

*The State of New York requires CS Energy, LLC to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 Starting rate of pay may vary based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's experience and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to CS Energy’s discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
