About the role
This position reports to the Director of RCM and is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the revenue cycle process. The Revenue Cycle Manager will ensure the efficient operation of billing, collections, and claims processes to maximize revenue and enhance patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Closely manage LifeMD’s billing operations by monitoring the day-to-day flow of recorded visits, coding, charge entry, claims filing, payer accounts receivable follow-up, denials, client collections, bad debt monitoring and troubleshooting issues, in order to maximize collections
- Collaborate with Director of RCM and Compliance to design and enforce all policies and procedures relating to internal and external revenue cycle operations to ensure efficiency and quality of work
- Develop billing policies to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for services rendered
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize revenue cycle performance and improve key metrics such as Days in Accounts Receivable (AR), denial rates, and collection rates
- Meet with the LifeMD Finance Team on a regular basis, and ongoing communication with other departments at LifeMD, to assess the overall revenue cycle health
- Develop rapport with LifeMD clinicians and operational leaders with ongoing professional communication, scheduled and ad hoc calls, and written correspondence
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid requirements
- Establish and monitor effective revenue cycle KPIs and standardized reporting
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to streamline processes and enhance the patient experience
- Manage and mentor revenue cycle team members (internal and outsourced) fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned to support LifeMD’s mission and values
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or equivalent experience (required)
- 5+ years of required experience in medical billing and reimbursement (required)
- 5+ years experience managing revenue cycle billing operations for providers and clinicians nationwide (required)
- Strong understanding of healthcare billing, coding, and collections processes. (required)
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data. (required)
- Proven leadership and team management skills. (required)
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements. (required)
- Proficiency with revenue cycle management software and Microsoft Office Suite. (preferred)
- Certified Medical Coder (CPC) via AAPC or CCS, CCS-P or CCA via AHIMA with high degree of competence in this area with two (2) years’ experience. (Preferred)
- High level of proven communication skills, including written, verbal and conceptual presentation
