About Hack VC

Hack VC is a NYC-based investment firm focused on crypto and blockchain tech. In particular, we invest at the earliest stages in crypto infrastructure and networks. Hack VC is a tight-knit team that believes in autonomy, transparency, and fundamentals. In addition to the investment team, we run Hack Summit, one of the largest global conferences and communities for blockchain programmers (100k+ engineers), and the Hack Crypto Lab, a team of quant traders and engineers that build tooling for us to be the earliest users of the blockchain networks that we seed.

Role Responsibilities

• Source investment opportunities in crypto startups and protocols
• Conduct deep market research & analysis in sectors like DeFi, Infrastructure, Dev Tooling, ZK-Proof Applications, Interoperability
• Publish research in your focus area or make open-source contributions
• Diligence investment opportunities, prepare memos to our investment committee, present and defend your analysis/opinions to the partnership
• Support the portfolio post-investment: strategy and go-to-market support, token and mechanism design

Requirements

Required Experience

• Eat sleep and breathe crypto
• Prior experience with technical researching and/or sourcing deals in crypto; technical crypto experience such as engineering at a crypto startup or graduate/research experience in areas like distributed systems and cryptography; or finance backgrounds in analysis/research-heavy roles like HF / equity research
• Strong network within the crypto startup ecosystem (and can prove it to us)
• This is everything from an analyst to senior partner role. When in doubt, apply.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with DeFi, crypto trading, and various crypto tools (show us your Debank rank / DegenScore etc)
• Programming skills
• History of writing long-form research and analysis
