ABOUT THE ROLE
The Production Manager is responsible for advancing and directing the technical aspects of events at Avant Gardner. Through communication with clients, vendors, and other departments, the Production Manager gathers all relevant show information and disseminates details as they move through the advancing process, while also providing input on event staffing and budgeting. The Production Manager ensures that client expectations are met and the standards of the production department are upheld for each event, from initial booking up until the doors are closed.

This position requires exceptional communication skills when addressing technical and creative topics, and necessitates strong decision making and leadership, particularly in stressful situations. Candidates should employ innovative strategies as well as industry standards and procedures to endlessly improve production at Avant Gardner.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the Director of Production
- Coordinates with Director of Production and Programming to discern initial event scope and kick off production advancing
- Works with artist team to advance production
- Develops and fosters relationships with clients, artists, tour crew, and other important personnel to ensure streamlined communication and successful execution of each event
- Meets regularly with production team members and other departments to provide updates on events and discuss team performance and progress
- Provides input into the creative and technical execution of staging, audio, video, lighting, and logistics for each event
- Ensures all staff and equipment are properly scheduled or secured from outside sources
- Conducts employee interviews alongside other managers and give input on hiring decisions
- Gathers all pertinent event info, production schedules, and riders into organized documents and distribute to team members with ample time before show calls
- Oversees the load in and load out of shows from artists, vendors, and all that apply
- Ensures all production issues that arise during ROS timeline are solved, including equipment issues, changes to stage layouts, inclement weather, etc.
- Manages production assistants, stagehands, and technical staff throughout the event and provide feedback and conflict resolution, as needed
- Provide end-of-shift reports detailing event proceedings and any information that will contribute to the procedures, processes, and overall performance of the production team
- Determines billback and accounting information after a show has concluded
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and use proactive problem solving
- Substantial experience with audio/lighting systems, backline equipment, projection technologies, streaming media technologies, staging, rigging, and power requirements
- Ability to make clear, concise decisions, sometimes with limited information
- Ability to interact respectfully, collegially, and professionally with all employees and contractors at all levels of responsibility
- Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and possible holidays
- Required proficiency in the Google Workspace suite, and its applications such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Drive- including Shared Drives, and Google Groups for seamless team communication.
DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- CAD/Vectorworks experience
- Substantial experience with audio/lighting systems, backline equipment, projection technologies, streaming media technologies, staging, rigging, and power requirements
- College degree
- Driver License
- Certifications in various safety and training courses
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing to work long hours, including overnight shifts
- Must be willing to work outdoors (all seasons)
- Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to work on your feet as well as stationary for 12 hours or more during events
- Must be comfortable working in an environment with moderate to loud noise level
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate/yearly salary for this position will range from $50/hr-$60/hr based on experience.
