The Black Futures Lab is a 501(c)3 that transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent, political power at the municipal, state, and federal levels. The problems Black communities face is complex; the solutions to those problems require imagination, experimentation, and political power. The Black Futures Lab combines strategies that help us imagine the alternatives we deserve while building political power at the local, state, and national levels to implement those alternatives.
The Black Futures Lab is hiring an Organizing Training Manager. This is a remote and shared position with Black Futures’ Lab sister organization Black to the Future Action Fund. The Organizing Training Manager is managed by the Field Director and works closely with all staff within the organization.
The Organizing Training Manager will develop training curricula, materials, and programming to help create a robust and innovative Black organizing ecosystem. They will manage and implement “train the trainers” and develop power-building programming for organizers, volunteers, and partners.
The Organizing Training Manager is responsible for helping the Field Department translate organizing strategies and tactics into training to ensure organizers have the materials they need to move volunteers up the BFL Leadership Ladder of Engagement and to help volunteers become effective leaders and storytellers in their local communities.
The Organizing Training Manager should be well-versed in the creation and implementation of multi-stage training curricula and programming within Black political spaces.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement an annual training strategy for external partners of the Black Futures Lab.
- Plan and execute the "Power Building Series, Organizing our Future" Series, and other training programs aimed at strengthening the organizing ecosystem.
- Collaborate with the Field and Political teams to design a year-long training schedule for internal staff, partners, and volunteers.
- Assist in planning and executing programming and onboarding sessions for new volunteers and partners in targeted states.
Logistics and Evaluation:
- Oversee the logistics of external partner training programs in coordination with the Field Program Associate.
- Establish an evaluation system to monitor the effectiveness of training programs.
- Develop a process for organizing and maintaining training resources across platforms such as SharePoint, Canva, and Google Drive.
- Ensure that training materials and programs are current, accurate, and effective.
- Stay updated on new training methods, techniques, and requirements relevant to the organization's goals.
Training Execution and Collaboration:
- Identify opportunities for improving training processes based on operational changes or developments in the community or issues being addressed.
- Conduct or facilitate required and recommended training sessions.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party training providers as needed.
- Monitor training milestones and goals, adhering to the approved training budget.
- Prepare and implement the training budget.
Project Management:
- Develop and execute project plans for each training initiative, outlining objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of training projects with organizational goals and priorities.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep training initiatives on track.
- Utilize project management tools and techniques to track milestones, tasks, and dependencies.
- Regularly communicate with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, address concerns, and solicit feedback.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- A high-level understanding of grassroots organizing principles and the current political landscape.
- Strong instructional design skills and experience with e-learning platforms and tools
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Proven record of accomplishment in designing and delivering successful training programs.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices in learning and development.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong graphic design ability.
- Thorough understanding of training processes.
- Ability to moderate large groups.
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office & G Suite or related software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- All staff work remotely. Office hours are 10 am - 6 pm local time. Work hours may be adjusted to accommodate team members in other time zones.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including evening and weekend events, as necessary. Willingness to travel.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Pay for this position is commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The salary range for this position is $100,000-$110,000. This position includes medical and dental benefits, generous paid vacation, sick time, and holidays. This position is 40 hours per week, salaried, and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
