Theatrical Distribution Intern Duties
As an intern in Theatrical Distribution, you will have a significant role in supporting our team with the daily operations of distributing films to theaters globally, working closely with the Theatrical Sales and Distribution team. In the role, you will assist with coordinating logistical aspects of film distribution, such as the following:
- Managing shipping timelines, tracking film prints, and ensuring timely delivery to theaters
- Research marketing and distribution plans to develop knowledge of the competitive landscape; build decks for case studies on past successful releases.
- Assist our distribution team with box office report entry, invoicing, and updating release calendars.
- Conduct grassroots and organizational outreach for current and upcoming NEON releases.
- Keep track of and update a catalog of contacts for non-theatrical sales.
- Assist in communicating with exhibitors for all of their in-theater marketing needs.
- While primarily in theatrical distribution, interns will also be assisting in other department projects, including acquisitions, marketing, and publicity as needed.
- Assist with special events and screenings.
- General administrative and shipping support.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in theatrical distribution.
Important Information Before Applying:
- Program Dates: The internship runs from January 13, 2025, to May (exact dates are flexible based on academic schedules)
- Our internships are paid, and offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.50. While school credit isn’t mandatory, we can provide documentation for it if needed. Note that relocation assistance is not available.
- We're excited about your journey of learning and growth! To make the most of your internship, we ask for a commitment of 2-3 full days a week, totaling around 16-24 hours. The best part? You get to craft your own schedule, ensuring it fits seamlessly with your school calendar.
- This internship is a team-oriented opportunity that requires you to be on-site at one of our NEON offices, located in either Los Angeles, California, or the Soho area of New York City.
- Interviews will be conducted from October to early December. If your skills and interests align with one of our available internship roles, a member of the NEON team will reach out to you. Due to the high volume of applications, we regret that we are unable to provide individual status updates.

To be eligible for this internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (Spring/Fall) during your participation in the internship program.

Requirements
What we’re looking for:
- Must be an undergraduate student, rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior and enrolled on campus for the entirety of the 2024 - 2025 school year
- A passion for independent film and a proactive, positive attitude.
- Strong computer skills, especially in Google Docs and Excel.
- A collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Cultural literacy and a curiosity to engage with marketing and distribution campaigns.
- Quick learner with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong communication and analytical writing abilities.
- Previous experience in communications or public relations is a plus.
In addition to the above qualifications, proficiency in Photoshop and Premiere, as well as familiarity with Google and Microsoft Office suites, is required.
