Full Job Description
LaBella is currently seeking qualified candidates for our 2024 Land Surveying Internship Program in our Rochester, NY office.
Are you ready to apply your classroom knowledge to the real world of surveying? As a Land Surveying Intern for LaBella, you will perform survey work relating to topographic and boundary surveying, construction staking, structure monitoring and other surveying applications in support of land surveying, civil engineering, architectural and environmental projects. You will be working under the direction of Licensed Professional Surveyors.

Duties
- Efficiently and safely complete fieldwork by assisting one of our experienced Survey Crew Chief's in the completion of survey field assignments.
- Establish control points, benchmarks, and reference markers to ensure precise measurements.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the site by examining property records, deeds, and historical surveys.
- Follow prescribed safety practices for Land Surveying.
- Operates advanced survey technology including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, digital and differential levels, UAV, high-definition scanners and data collections devices.
- Clear brush, drive stakes, take detailed notes, and make sketches.
- Processing of data and preparation of maps and other work products utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson and other software.
- Assisting with the generation of comprehensive survey reports for clients.
Requirements
- Working towards a degree in Land Surveying, Geospatial Technology, or related discipline.
- Completed one full year of college (rising sophomore).
- Candidates going into their junior or senior year of college are preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson and Inroads software is a plus.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Valid Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Drive a passenger vehicle.
- Wear personal protective safety gear most of the day.
- Work in cold or hot environments.
- Ability to carry 30 to 60 pounds of equipment multiple times a day, occasionally lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
Salary Range: $18 - $21 per hour
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
