Who You Are
We’re looking for a Part-Time (25 hours/week) People & Culture/HR Manager who’s excited to work with an organization that puts its team first. Currently, we have 20 team members who work hybrid, remote, and onsite in the Queens, NY area. You’ve worked in healthcare before—understanding the nuances of managing Talent Acquisition and HR in the healthcare industry. You have a great passion and skill in both recruiting and HR operations, and are always looking for ways to improve the employee experience.
The schedule is flexible, mostly remote; and in the future, may have the opportunity to convert to full-time (become benefit-eligible).
What You’ll Do
Talent Acquisition/Onboarding
- Apply previous healthcare recruiting + sourcing experience for open roles (2 - 3 job reqs at a time)
- Conduct an inclusive onboarding and new-hire orientation experience for new team members
Payroll/Benefits/HR Operations
- Process biweekly payroll for 20 hourly, salary exempt, salary non-exempt, and 1099-NEC team members in Rippling (HRIS)
- Partner with benefit broker to update benefit information materials; conduct annual Open Enrollment
- Ensure all TA/HR-related policies & procedures are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, with a keen focus on healthcare industry standards
- Address employee questions and employee relations concerns
- Update the intranet monthly with new information for employees
- Own and optimize the management of healthcare certifications and credentials, ensuring all team members meet federal, New York, and New Jersey healthcare regulations
Engagement
- With a Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) lens, ensure transparency, accuracy, and communication timeliness that fosters trust, psychological safety, and employee satisfaction
- Periodically support company-wide events, teambuilding activities, and content development for the bimonthly employee newsletter
- Manage a people-first annual performance process that is inclusive, constructive, and easy-to-use
- Conduct regular development discussions and feedback sessions (30/60/90 day check-ins, exit interviews, etc.)
- Identify and arrange professional development and training opportunities
A typical day in this role may include:
- Weekly meeting with Founders to discuss People & Culture initiatives and progress
- Answering emails, meeting with team members (30/60/90 day check-ins, etc.)
- Interviewing and following up with candidates; sourcing for passive candidates
- Processing Payroll and payroll maintenance items, auditing payroll and benefit enrollments
- Cross-team collaboration on ad hoc projects and initiatives
- Continuous Improvement: Policies & Procedures, vendor partner relationships, etc.
Requirements
What You’ll Have
- Ability to work remote -and- within commute-distance to the Queens, NY office for in-person meetings
- 3 plus years of experience (healthcare) in both Talent Acquisition and HR Generalist functions (required)
- Excellent empathetic and proactive communication, verbally and in writing
- Deep familiarity with NY/NJ payroll standards as well as 1099 Contractor management, 401(k), health benefits, perks, learning and development, federal and state leave programs
- Bias for technology, you automate, inform, and operationalize (Bonus if you have used Google Workspace, Rippling, Canva, Asana, Zoom, and other tech-forward software)
- Demonstrable proficiency in HRISs and ATSs
- Comprehensive understanding of payroll, benefits, labor laws, and regulatory compliance
