About WorkMoney Digital Innovation
In 2024, the Engineering department is focused on scaling our ability to provide benefits access navigation and bringing core functions that have been off-boarded to contractors back in-house. Our team is currently a scrappy one-person operation, looking to expand.
The Engineering department sits within the Digital Innovation team, which comprises of product management, technical program management, data science, data engineering, data analysts, and research/insights. We are a growing team of passionate doers and change makers!
Why We Need A Full Stack Tech Lead
We are launching a benefits access navigation service, which enables any American to find more ways to save money. They can learn about potential programs and understand their eligibility by calling, texting, emailing, or visiting our website to complete a simple screener. This is an ambitious vision - to stand this service up across all 50 states - and we take an iterative approach to achieving our goals. We need you to help us build out this service and make it the most impactful, easy to use, and delightful experience possible.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate access to money-saving programs and products for millions of people and promote civic engagement through use-friendly digital interfaces.
- Develop new features and infrastructure to meet evolving business and project needs.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scalability while maintaining high standards for code quality and design.
- Build scalable distributed solutions across the full stack to enhance user experiences and drive business growth.
- Contribute to the design of both internal and customer-facing products as required.
- Implement essential technological components internally and externally.
- Write well-documented, maintainable, and scalable code suitable for the organization’s stage.
- Manage project requirements, priorities, and deliverables effectively to meet deadlines.
- Delegate tasks to external contractors and oversee their completion.
- Mentor junior developers, both internal and external, to foster learning and success within our technology and architecture.
Requirements
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
We’re seeking a tech-savvy guru with a knack for problem-solving and a flair for project management. The ideal candidate thrives in cloud environments, effortlessly tackles coding challenges, and crafts elegant solutions. They’re the master of timelines, the maestro of communication, and the champion of collaboration.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience writing, deploying, and maintaining code in a team environment
- 3+ years experience serving as a tech lead - in charge of task breakdown and delegation
- Proficiency in cloud infrastructure, preferably with experience in AWS or similar platforms.
- Competence in multiple programming languages, with a willingness and ability to learn new ones as needed.
- Demonstrated experience in building user-facing features for web applications.
- Familiarity with unit and integration testing methodologies.
- Proven ability to propose and implement effective solutions within specified constraints, including time and resource limitations.
- Experience in gathering and documenting project requirements effectively.
- Ability to break down tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage project tasks in an agile environment.
- Track record of tracking timelines, deliverables, and issues, with a systematic approach to prioritization.
- Strong vendor management skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with external vendors or contractors and suggest process improvements for enhanced collaboration and outcomes.

The salary for this role is $180,250 annually and as part of our commitment to pay transparency and equity in our organization, the salary for this position is not negotiable.
